In September 2010, Gemtime N.Z. Ltd shareholders authorised Gemtime members merging into the Showcase Jewellers operating structure, and thereby become Showcase members.

From September 2010, Gemtime members progressively became Showcase Jewellers, affiliated to JIMACO (Jewellery Industry Management & Agency Company) New Zealand Limited; a new company established as a wholly owned subsidiary of JIMACO Australia Ltd.

On the 1st March 2011, this merger took full effect in accordance with the Merger Agreement which underpins this significant occurrence in the Australasian jewellery industry. Since this date, Gemtime N.Z. Ltd has been voluntarily heading in the direction of being wound-up...and will eventually be liquidated. Instead, a New Zealand based Showcase Jewellers Support Centre has been established, operating as JIMACO N.Z. Ltd, to ensure the continuation of a high level of service and support to N.Z. members.

Some Gemtime members, as they became Showcase members prior to 1st March, changed the trading identity of their store, although as at 1st March 2011 most N.Z. based Showcase members are yet to make comprehensive branding changes; but will be progressively doing so as we move forward.

JIMACO N.Z. Ltd is also very pleased to announce that new members who have not originated or transitioned from being Gemtime members, have confirmed their engagement as Showcase Jewellers prior to 1st March 2011, and other well respected independent jewellers have expressed interest in doing the same in the near term.

In Australia the number of Showcase Jewellers stores is truly tremendous, at over 280 stores. In New Zealand, whilst Showcase Jewellers enters the market with around 25 stores, it is anticipated that this number will increase quickly as other independent jewellers come to learn about the benefits and advantages of being Showcase members.
