How to buy the perfect piece for your loved one

Birthdays, Christmas and other holidays can mean stress and confusion for some of us. Buying the perfect gift for a loved one can be very difficult, so we have compiled a few tips for you to think about to help with your selection of jewellery for your partners, parents, siblings and friends to help you make a confident decision when buying jewellery online.

  • What sort of jewellery do they usually wear? People have different jewellery preferences – some like rings and necklaces, others prefer only bracelets or earrings. Avoid purchasing a bracelet for someone who finds they get in the way of their job or day-to-day activities – you don’t want your gift to be worn once then left in a jewellery box for the rest of the year!
  • Think about the colours they often prefer. If you are looking at gemstones, pearls or even diamonds for your nearest and dearest, take into consideration their favourite colours, style choices and even their birthstone.
  • Gold, silver and rose gold are three beautiful metals, and can suit different skin tones and fashions. Take notice of what your loved one usually picks and match your choice to that – some people simply prefer gold over silver and vice versa.
  • If your giftee has a charm bracelet or similar item, contribute to this with something that is meaningful to the both of you. A memory, a moment in time – an important contribution symbolic of your relationship.

By considering the above, purchasing jewellery for the special people around us should be a lot easier. Simply take notice of their tastes, preferences and current items and match your choices to these. Jewellery is a gift that is treasured for a long, long time and is an excellent option for family, friends and partners – choose something special and enjoy seeing your recipient light up as they open up this token of your relationship.

Cannes Film Festival 2014: Best of the best

The revered Cannes Film Festival is one of the most extravagant of its kind, with entry limited to select members of the film industry. Dress is formal, and according to newspaper The Telegraph, it’s the second-largest media event in the world – encouraging attendees to dress to the nines. With luxury accessory company Chopard being the official partner of Cannes Film Festival, many of those on the red carpet chose to don the company’s latest collection to showcase their style, although, Chopard or not, it was hard to miss the jewellery at this event.

The dresses were exquisite and the suits were dashing, but it was the jewellery that stood out this year. Statement earrings seemed to be the accessory of choice and were seen all over the red carpet, but who came out on top? Here are our top five picks of celebrities who accessorised perfectly.

1. Cate Blanchett
These prawn-themed sparklers are what many believe was a nod to Cate’s Australian roots, and we absolutely love her kooky choice. In theory, they sound a little strange, but she managed to completely pull them off.

2. Kendall Jenner
Wearing all black and white, Kendall opted for spiky silver earrings to play up to the detail on her dress. In contrast to her hair, these earrings photographed beautifully and really suited her age.

3. Julianne Moore
Another celebrity who chose to pair her earrings with her outfit, Julianne Moore looked stunning in these beautiful crimson hoop earrings.

4. Salma Hayek
Selecting the right bracelet for her look led Salma Hayek to this python piece. Animal-themed jewellery seemed to be rather popular this year, and we love the risk of such an individual look.

5. Blake Lively
Simple glamour was the choice for this TV-actress-turned-Hollywood-starlet, and she looked incredible sporting this diamond necklace, which, according to Vogue, totaled in at a whopping 180 carats.

Take inspiration from the stars at the Cannes Film Festival and glam up your outfit with exciting new pieces. Create your own signature look by wearing jewellery that reflects your tastes, be they classic or a little offbeat.
